Tommy Turman Obituary, Death Cause – It is with heavy hearts that we come together to remember and honor the life of a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Tommy Joel “Dough Boy” Turman, Jr. Joel passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 7, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness and laughter. Joel was a remarkable soul, known for his hardworking spirit, kind heart, unwavering loyalty, reliability, and infectious sense of humor. He had a unique gift for making everyone he met feel like a lifelong friend. His warm and welcoming personality endeared him to many, and he leaves behind a vast network of friends who cherished his presence.
“Dough Boy” embraced the role of uncle with open arms at a young age, and as he grew older, his great-nieces and great-nephews became like his own children. His special bond with his nephew, Glen Foley, was one of brotherly love and camaraderie, as they were only one year apart in age. Joel is preceded in death by his parents, Tommy Joel and Velma Turman, as well as his brother, Richard Shepherd. He leaves behind a family who loved him dearly: three sisters, Glenda Jordan, Tammy Salter, and Bridgett; two brothers, Mickey Shepherd and Byron Turman; and his devoted companion, LaVarsha Hancock. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a multitude of lifelong friends.
