Nancy Ketchum Obituary, Death Cause – Herbert and Helen (Daggett) Pearson welcomed Nancy Ketchum into the world on September 5, 1940 in Cedar Rapids. In 1958, she earned her high school diploma from Washington. She got hitched to divorced John Rink Sr. She married Mervin “Butch” Ketchum on August 23, 1984. Nancy was a Wilson Foods and Farmstead employee. She then earned a degree from Kirkwood College and worked at West Side Unlimited, Quintrex, Ruffalo, and Agilon till retirement as a programmer and main frame operator. She relished spending the many years at their Ely property caring to the plants and flowers while their children and grandchildren played in the pool. She cherished all of their Yorkie dogs over the years.
She cherished going camping, shopping, and hanging out with friends. She loved traveling and often visited family and friends in Texas, Colorado, Oregon and other places too numerous to name here. Her list of must-haves included manicures, scratch cards, and anything turquoise. Her lemon bars, potato salad, and chocolate chip cookies were the greatest. She was so proud of her family and loved to hear the latest news about them. We will miss her terribly. Nancy belonged to the First Lutheran Church. She is survived by her two sons, John (Mary) Rink and Daniel (Christi) Rink, both of Cedar Rapids; her two stepdaughters, Julie (Dan) Thomson of Stanwood and Diane (Carl) Boeding of Colorado Springs, Colo.;
her two stepsons, Steven (Tami) Ketchum of Atkins and Mark (Michelle) Ketchum of Arizona; seventeen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and their Yorkie, Timmy. Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Barbara; brother, Ronnie; stepbrother, Jim; a stepsister, Ethel; and son, Jeffrey Rink. Special thanks go out to the staff at The Views of Marion for their care of Nancy over the past few years.
