
Morgan Sissom Obituary, Death Cause – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Morgan Sissom, aged 83, of Woodbury, who peacefully departed from this world on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at his home. Morgan was a native of Cannon County and the beloved son of the late Homer and Hessie Duke Sissom. Morgan is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Brenda Walsh Sissom, who stood by his side through all of life’s journeys. He was a dedicated father to his children, Kimberly Achorn (Darren) of Alabama, Rex Sissom, and Becky Sissom of Woodbury. Morgan’s legacy continues through his grandchildren, Cassie Sissom, Amber Achorn, and Brittany Achorn, as well as his great-grandchildren, Calin and Maelynn. He is also survived by his siblings, Ellis Sissom, Barney (Linda) Sissom, Ed Sissom, and Wanda Dailey.
In addition to his parents, Morgan was preceded in death by his siblings, Donna Taylor, Carl Sissom, and Pharris Sissom. Morgan Sissom was a devoted member of Plainview Baptist Church and had a fulfilling career as a retired railroad engineer. He found joy in creating lasting memories with his family, a passion for trains, and a deep commitment to serving his church and fellowshipping with others. Morgan was known for the perpetual smile that adorned his face, radiating warmth and kindness to all he encountered.
Visitation with Morgan’s family will take place on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 2 PM until 4 PM. Funeral services will follow at 4 PM in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home, with Bro. Jonathan Womack officiating. Morgan will be laid to rest at Riverside Gardens following the service. Morgan Sissom’s life was a testament to love, faith, and the bonds of family. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his enduring spirit will continue to bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
