Karen Woods, a beloved member of our society, passed away yesterday. She worked alongside us, but she was also a dear friend, and she spent her life advocating for the rights of animals. She has a passion for her work as an animal rescuer. Karen’s boundless compassion and caring for animals improved the quality of life for countless creatures. For many years, she has gone to great lengths to save abandoned animals, giving them food, water, and a safe place to live. As a result of her hard work, many animals were given a second chance at a happy and healthy life with new owners.
Karen’s death is a tragic setback not just for her loved ones, but also for the animals for which she advocated so tirelessly. They had a steadfast advocate who spoke up for their rights and cared deeply about them, and she embodied all of those qualities. Karen’s absence at the Michigan Animal Rescue League (MARL), where she made significant contributions and played an important role, cannot be filled. Her love for the four-legged members of our community and commitment to our cause were evident in everything she did.
