Kandhei Das Obituary, Death Cause – It is with deep sorrow that we report a heart-wrenching incident in CDA Sector-VI of Cuttack district, where a young girl’s life was tragically cut short today. The victim, identified as 20-year-old Kandhei Das, hailed from the Hairanpur slum in the locality. The unfortunate incident unfolded during the observance of Khudurukuni Osha, a sacred ritual in our community. While participating in this cherished tradition, Kandhei Das accidentally came into contact with a live electrical wire that was passing near her home. Tragically, she was electrocuted, leading to her untimely and devastating demise.
Local authorities were immediately alerted about the mishap, and a team of dedicated police officers swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate a thorough investigation. Kandhei Das’s lifeless body was then transferred to a nearby hospital for a post-mortem examination. In a separate and equally distressing incident earlier in the day, another young life was marred by tragedy. A 14-year-old girl, Arati Mallick, went missing after being swept away by the swift currents of a river in the Atharabanki locality of Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district.
This heart-wrenching incident occurred while she was at the river with her friends, participating in the Baluka Puja, a customary ritual associated with the Khudurukuni Osha festival. Despite the valiant efforts of our dedicated fire services personnel, Arati remains unaccounted for, adding to the profound sadness of the day.
