James Starkie Obituary, Death Cause – We must break the news to you with great sorrow that our beloved James Keith Starkie has passed away. This is a very upsetting development for all of us. Yesterday, he left this world, taking with him a loss that will be keenly felt by everyone who had the privilege of calling him a friend. James was more than simply a part of our community; he was also a support system, an advocate for change, and a genuine champion of Pendle and the villages that are located in its vicinity. His commitment to helping others shone through in all aspect of his life, from the time he spent as Mayor of Pendle to the time he spent as chairman of the Parish and Village Centre to the extraordinary 12 years he spent on the Borough Council representing the villages of Roughlee, Barley, Newchurch, and Higham.
His life was dedicated to serving others. James’s pleasure in representing our community was unshakeable, and he worked diligently to provide parishioners with support and assistance whenever and wherever it was required. His dedication went beyond words, as evidenced by the fact that he was instrumental in the process of procuring much-needed financing for a variety of improvement projects that have left an indelible mark on our landscape. James’s legacy will be forever linked with the natural attractiveness of our location, from the distinctive white railings and painstakingly made walls to the flourishing garden areas and the welcoming porch in the village center. It would be remiss of us to overlook the bus stops, the direction signs, and, of course, Alice, all of which he persistently advocated for.
At the same time as we are remembering James, we are also mourning the loss of a great friend, a guide, and a leader in the community. All of the people who had the honor of knowing him say that the generosity, dedication, and unflappable spirit he possessed will forever be remembered in their hearts. In due time, we will disseminate information regarding the funeral preparations, which will make it possible for us to unite as a community to pay our respects and commemorate the extraordinary life of James Keith Starkie. Let us, at this time of mourning, cling to the memory of the remarkable man who left an imprint on each of our lives and on our community in a variety of different ways.
