Evelyn Bichler Obituary, Death Cause – On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at her home in Port Washington, Belgium, Evelyn Bichler died. She was 84. Evelyn Klein was born in Fredonia on Christmas Eve 1938 to Joseph, Sr. and Elizabeth (Pierre) Klein. Fredonia-born, she graduated from Port Washington High School in 1956.= She married John Bichler at Fredonia’s St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on July 11, 1959. The couple bought the family farm in 1965 to raise their kids. They bought a nearby property in 1968. John and Evelyn sold the dairy farm to their son Gary in 1989. Evelyn was a longtime St. Nicholas parish Christian Mother’s Society member. She was an American Legion Auxiliary member in Belgium.

She adored seeing her grandchildren play softball and attending their games. Additionally, she and John traveled much in their RV around the US. Sewing, knitting, crocheting, Diamond Dotz, and other crafts were her pastimes. She was noted for her cake decorating skills and made many birthday, wedding, and anniversary cakes. She also liked BINGO, Rummikub, riddles, and Wahoo! with her archenemy Black Bart. Evelyn’s children are Gary (Claire) Bichler of Belgium, Debra (Tim) Miller of Belgium, Patti Bichler of Waukesha, and Paul Bichler of Chandler, AZ. She loved her four grandkids, Heather (Luke) Meinen, Emily (Kenny) Dornburg, Shawn Miller, and Ali (Tony Maher) Bichler, and her six great-grandchildren, Myla, Orion, Penny, Skye, Jules, and Brooks.

Her two brothers Joseph, Jr. (the late Marilyn) and Norbert (the late Beverly) Klein, her sister Elvira (the late Edward) Paulus, two sisters-in-law Beverly (the late Harold) Bichler and Marge (the late Richard) Bichler, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends survive Evelyn. Her parents, devoted husband John, and infant son Joseph predeceased her. Divine Savior Parish – Holy Cross chapel will have a Christian Burial and Visitation on Friday, September 8, 2023. Visitation is 4-6 PM and Mass is 6 PM. Father Steve Lampe will lead Mass. Evelyn will be buried at Dacada’s St. Nicholas Parish Cemetery. Instead of flowers, donate to the Divine Savior Parish-Holy Cross Chapel elevator replacement fund.
