
Dale Hoffer Obituary, Death Cause – Dale Willard Hoffer, age 88, a beloved resident of Crestline, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Galion Avita Hospital, surrounded by his loving family after a sudden illness. Dale’s life began on May 22, 1935, in Fredericktown, born to the late Frederick Hoffer and Helen (Grubaugh) Hoffer-Climes. In a love story that spanned four decades, Dale was married to Josephine (Tesso) Hoffer for 41 years until her passing. In 2006, he would find love again and marry Sandra (Baldy) Hoffer. Dale served his country as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps for 8 years, embodying the spirit of dedication and service. Following his honorable service, he pursued a career as a tool and die maker for GM, dedicating 37 years of his life to his craft. Dale also contributed to his community through his work with Jackson Township.
He was a devout member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Galion and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. In his leisure time, Dale was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding solace and joy in the great outdoors. Dale is survived by his loving children: Teresa (Fred) Foster, James (Michelle) Hoffer, and Christopher (Sue) Hoffer; his cherished sister, Ellen Troutman; 7 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his brothers: Charles Hoffer, Glen Hoffer, and Carl Hoffer. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, located at 223 W. Main St. Crestline. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 11:00 am, with Father Jeff Smith officiating. Dale will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery of Crestline following the service. Dale Willard Hoffer’s legacy of service, dedication, and love will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.
